CCHI is Funded by Philanthropic Resources
The philanthropic community has been a significant partner in supporting the statewide vision and development of the California Children’s Health Initiatives (CCHI). They have been responsible partners who have shared their financial means to identify responsive solutions to our State’s fragmented health care system. They remain resilient in their core principles, and grant making in support of local Children’s Health Initiatives throughout the state.
David and Lucile Packard Foundation
The David and Lucile Packard Foundation is a private foundation that provides grants to not-for-profit organizations. It was created in 1964 by David Packard, co-founder of the Hewlett-Packard Company, and his wife Lucile Salter Packard. California Children’s Health Initiatives is a Project of the Tides Center
Tides Center is another significant partner and functions as CCHI’s fiscal sponsor. The Tides Center is the nation’s largest fiscal sponsor of progressive social change initiatives. They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, legally and financially responsible for all our projects and activities. By serving as a fiscal sponsor, they provide the administrative infrastructure and “back office” functions for the project, including payroll, accounting, financial reporting/auditing, grants and contract management, insurance, benefit administration, human resource management, employee relations, and training.

Coalitions Partners
CCHI staff and members maintain constant contact with stakeholders, including children advocacy organizations, foundations, and state and federal policymakers. CCHI works with these groups to exchange information about new developments, educate decision-makers about the importance of coverage to all children, and to make sure that CHIs are incorporated into local and state plans for service delivery and funding streams.
